Dr. Kenneth Webster

Biography

Kenneth E. Webster, Ed.D., has been writing poetry since he was a freshman at Thornton High School in Harvey, Illinois. Inspired by his teachers and encouraged by his parents, he enjoyed writing poems about special people and events in his life.

As a junior and senior high school English teacher, he taught creative writing that segments on poetry. He further enjoyed teaching English Literature, where he emphasized the writings of Shakespeare, Shelley, Keats, and Whitman.
From the classroom, he moved on to his administrative positions as principal, assistant Superintendent, and superintendent of Schools. However, he continued to write poetry for his friends on special occasions.

In recent years he continued to implement his writing skills as editor of the "PCOMS News," a publication of the Pinellas County Osteopathic Medical Society, where he served as Executive Director for 35 years. Their office is in Clearwater, Florida.

Active in church-related activities, Kenneth wrote a workbook entitled "Long Range Planning for Churches." It was published in the International Council of Community Churches in 1996. That same year he received the "International Poet of Merit Award" from the International Society of Poets for his poem entitled "Remember Jesus."

In 2006, he was inducted into the "International Poetry Hall of Fame" in Washington, D.C., for his outstanding poetry, and this award was presented to him by actress Florence Henderson.

Kenneth enjoys writing poetry for friends on special occasions and for special events or activities. He is particularly proud of his award-winning poems: "Make It a Year to Remember," "Remember Jesus," "Diana-Princess for All the People," and "The Masters." He notes, "I enjoy writing poetry that brings joy to my heart and hopefully to those I write about." He is most proud of his poem "Lady Liberty Still Stands Tall," which was written following the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers in New York City and was read before the United States Congress two weeks later.
